In Charlois, squatters have transformed a vacant building into the BuurToren, a place for people without a roof over their heads. The initiative arose after the bed-bath-bread scheme was abolished earlier this year. “This is a place for people who need housing, because otherwise they would end up on the streets,” says a resident.
